Experiments in Hair and Makeup

Category: ProjectsEyeliah

On Yes and Yes Sarah recommended a winged eyeliner tutorial saying it is one she actually gets.  Well I’ve never created a passable winged eye so of course I had to try it and by goodness, I get it I finally get it!  I easily matched the wings on both sides, check out the tutorial here.

Now that my hair is shoulder length I’ve been playing with an over elastic-ed ponytail.  I used three elastics in the same color here.  It’s great for keeping my hair out of the way when I teach yoga.  I think this would look good if you have long hair. Make two side ponytails, elastics starting at the nape of the neck.

Then for a community dress up party I added tiny rhinestones to the side of my face with Spirit Gum.  I used this online picture as inspiration.  These little glittery jewels definitely added to the fun I had that evening.  It is very easy to do, especially since I stuck to (pun intended) only one side of my face, two sides would have been challenging to create evenly.

Have you been experimenting with your and makeup lately?

The Big Bang Theory Style ~ Part III

Category: MediaEyeliah

The Big Bang Theory is a sitcom centered around two physicist roommates who work at Cal Tech University, their coworkers/friends (an astrophysicist and an engineer) and their neighbor a pretty waitress/aspiring actress.  Of course hilarity ensues, nothing makes this closeted geek laugh more than TBBT.  Their geek chic styles can be quite outlandish, each character with their own signature look.  Click here for Leonard, Sheldon and Penny in Part I and here for Raj and Howard and Part II.

COSTUMES

No one does a costume better than a geek!  Note: My friends and I know how to rock awesome costumes.

The gang had to come up with new costumes after they all dressed as The Flash for Penny’s Halloween party.

Poor Howard as a jester above and miserable as Batgirl below.

1200 Calorie Menu Plan for Weight Loss

Category: Cooking,LifeEyeliah

Below is the menu I painstakingly created for a a weeks worth of 1200-1300 calories a day.  True story, I used to consult in weight loss and know quite a bit about nutrition, meal planning and goal setting so I really need to step up.  I have set the goal to reach to my desired body shape in three months and once achieved will reward myself with laser eye surgery, I feel motivated every time I inch my glasses back up my nose!

Recently I threw out my scale (and felt powerful well doing so!) but then was not quite sure how I would measure my progress…  I’ve decided to take my measurements every two to three weeks and also use items in my closet that are a bit tight as a guide and hopefully this will suffice.  I will also measure changes in my energy levels.  Here are my goals in inches;

~Inches~ Bust: -0 (don’t take my bust!) Waist: -1.5 Hips: -2.5 Arm: -0.5

Once I am there bye bye glasses!  Even though I am not using a scale, this menu should equal 0.5-2 pounds of fat loss per week.  In it I kept in my favorite foods in small doses; things like avocado, bacon and all natural peanut butter.  I am also indulging in the power bar I am very much enjoying; Luna’s Chocolate Peppermint Stick at 180 calories.  Water intake is being tracked at bare minimum of eight cups per day, eight hours of sleep a night and an average of twenty *extra* minutes exercise per day.

I know I can do it, I have to!

And For Old Times Sake A Few PRE Weight Loss Recipes Including Bacon Cookies (!!!)

This right here is why you should always make twice as much dough as you need.  I was able to make Quiche Lorraine AND raspberry tarts with leftover pie crust.  First a classic quiche from the Joy of Cooking (similar recipe here).

And then the tarts were a delicious recipe of my own creation, though of course I did not write the details down darn it.  I also forgot to take an after picture, I guess I was just too busy tasting my creation.

Next up I had to try my hand at bacon chocolate chip cookies.  Yes cookies with bacon and they were beyond delicious, recipe from All Recipes.

Vegas Baby!

Category: LifeEyeliah

I’ve been so busy I forget to tell you, I went to fabulous Las Vegas!

Bellagio Fountain

Freemont Street

Finger is pointing with precision to my hotel room at New York New York, and no I DID NOT go on the rollercoaster!  But I did go to The Tournament of Kings and ate with my hands, weaseled my way into to the Bellagio pool, saw Blue Man Group and got covered in toilet paper and did the canals at The Venetian which was cheesier than I could have ever imagined.  It was 5 days and nights of extreme fun and of course what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas so that’s all you get.

Have you been to Las Vegas?

Misikko Hana Titanium Review

Category: ReviewsEyeliah

I was lucky enough to receive for the second time a flat iron from Misikko.  It was two years ago when the 1″ Hana Elite arrived at my door and it is still going strong, I don’t know how I would handle shoulder grazing hair without it!  And now I am also a proud owner of a 1.5″ Hana Titanium.

It heats up in 6 seconds!  With wider plates it works even better at straightening long pieces of hair though the 1″ is more manageable on the short pieces at the nape of my neck.  As my hair grows longer the Hana Titanium will definitely be my go to hair straightener.  Misikko carries a wide selection of products, you can also check out their Chi Straighteners.

Here are my results;

Doesn’t my hair look sleek?  Thank you so much to Misikko.
