Symmetry Seven ~ Wendy Brandes

Category: Real Girl SpotlightsEyeliah @ 4:39 pm

Wendy Brandes started her blog Wendy Brandes Jewelry initially to promote her jewelry line.  She quickly expanded into writing about high (and low) fashion, books, bloggers and best of all fashion in music.  Personal outfits often include signature red lipstick and a killer vintage designer dress, her photos taken on the streets of NYC.  Wendy’s writing style is often tongue in cheek providing readers with her humorous view of the world forgoing all political correctness.  She has also shared her Words of Wisdom educating readers on why fine jewelry isn’t cheap to manufacture or make custom.  See Wendy’s answers to the Symmetry Seven below.

1. What would you name your personal style?
Uncomplicated, with a twisted sense of humor.

2. Is there anything you wouldn’t wear?
Sack dresses don’t do it for me. I prefer sleek.

3. Where do you get your outfit inspirations?
Musical style icons often inspire me: Adam Ant, Debbie Harry, the Beatles in their Hamburg days. My favorite vintage designer, Ossie Clark, was a very rock ‘n’ roll guy. He designed for Mick Jagger.

4. What’s your favorite non fashion hobby?
Reading biographies.

5. How much time do you spend working on your blog?
Probably 40 hours a week!

6. What songs/albums are you loving right now?
Whip My Hair by Willow Smith. I can’t believe I’m listening to a nine-year-old, but it’s a great song!

7. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A journalist. And I was a journalist for 10 years. Goal achieved.

Thank you so much Wendy for participating!!

Blog to Watch ~ Everything Style

Category: Inspiration,Real Girl SpotlightsEyeliah @ 8:30 am

Okay, Everything Style is not a ‘new’ blog but it’s new to me. I find new blogs mostly on; blogrolls, Lookbook.nu, Wardrobe Remix and blog postings. Everything Style caught my eye with this amazing shot on Lookbook… once again proving how pivotal online communities are for marketing a blog.

Where do you find new blogs to read? Do you remember how you found Style Symmetry?

Back to Everything Style; not only are the models incredibly well styled but also the backgrounds and the quality of photography are top shelf.   Shae’s posts provide oodles (yes I said oodles) of inspiration to draw from and I have been pouring over the achieves for days.

Want to…..know a playful way to style a turban?

Want to…..style a sexy jewelry overdoes with vintage slips and robes?

Want to…..work up the courage to wear a hat tied around your neck of a vintage hat with netting?

Or even just to enjoy the dripping beads, floral pillows and vintage lampshades; check out Everything Style.

Divine Dresser ~ Franco F on Lookbook

Category: Inspiration,Real Girl SpotlightsEyeliah @ 7:45 am

While perusing my recent lookbook ‘hyped looks’ I noticed that many of the outfits are by the same girl! Miss Franco Fernandez.

I know, she is amazing.  Also discovered she has a blog here.  She clearly has a penchant for hats, statement jewelry, soft tones, flowing fabrics and remixing.  Remixing abilities in particular has got to be the most impressive quality for a stylish person.  If you look closely Franco wears the same incredible triangular necklace three times, beige scarf three times and bowler twice.

Symmetry Seven ~ Katie of What Katie Wore

Category: Real Girl SpotlightsEyeliah @ 8:00 am

Katie’s style is fun, colourful, whimsical, unique.  Lately her occasional monochrome inspired and muted tones have been catching my eye as they suit the new Style Symmetry sensibility.  Of course we have adored her style since the beginning, no one does the head to toe brights like her.  Thanks Joe for knowing the world needed to see What Katie Wore.  See Katie’s answers below.

What Katie Wore On Joe's First Day (kind of)

1.What would you name your personal style?
Playing dress up at the end of the rainbow

What Katie Wore On Liberal Tuesday

2.Is there anything you wouldn’t wear?
Hmm, I think the only thing I can say with 100% certainty that I wouldn’t wear is Crocs

What Katie Wore Outside Jones Dairy

3.Where do you get your outfit inspirations?
I have absolutely no idea! Every day I decide on one item I want to wear while I’m in the shower and then build an outfit from that one piece out. I’m really not sure how I decide on the first part of the outfit, but all the other elements on top are generally linked by colour or pattern.

What Katie Wore On Excitment Friday

4.What’s your favorite non fashion hobby?
Does eating count as a hobby?! Joe and I really love cooking together or going out for dinner; I love good food almost as much as I love rainbow tights!

What Katie Wore On The Concrete Block

5.How much time do you spend working on your blog?
I’m pretty lucky; the blog is really Joe’s so he is the one who does all the writing and who runs it on a day-to-day basis. All I need to do is get dressed in the morning and, as I’d be wearing what I wear on the blog even if we didn’t have the blog, I don’t ever feel that it’s a burden.

What Katie Wore To L'Anima

6.What songs/albums are you loving right now?
I’m going through a bit of a Mumford & Sons and The XX phase at the moment. Oh and the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album is great too.

What Katie Wore After ASOS

7.When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I used to fluctuate between an archaeologist, a criminal lawyer and a fashion designer! So God only knows how I’ve ended up as an advertising strategist…

What Katie Wore On Joe's Last Day

Katie thank you so much for participating!!
