It has been a week since my post How Do I Get The Neighbors To Turn Down Their Music?, thank you all for your thoughts and suggestions! I did end up sliding my polite note under the door…
“I tried knocking three times, I can hear your music in my apartment and it is uncomfortably loud. I would appreciate if you could turn it down, especially the bass. I work odd hours and am often home during the day.
Thank you”
And you’ll never guess what happened!

Five minutes later she turned down the music and it hasn’t been up since.

Stressful! Hope this is now resolved. I once had a highly unreasonable neighbor who was also mentally ill. She would turn her music up full blast and LEAVE HER APARTMENT. After enduring this and other things (purposely stomping her feet up and down the stairs several times a day on her way past my apartment) for four years I finally lost it one day and SCREAMED at her. You know what?, it stopped. And I moved out a few months later. Wish I’d done that before.

Woohoo! Success! Thank God she wasn’t a selfish one.

- sometimes tact works … good for you & good for her!

Well done, hurrah! Your niceness paid off.

Well done! I have had success with that tactic before – sometimes people just genuinely don’t think. Of course soemtimes they are selfish pigs and don’t care, but luckily this one was reasonable. Yay!

Glad you resolved it simply. The resident in my unit next to me is a big pain however….

You’re lucky the neighbor complied. Had I done the same thing, I would probably have gotten a note under my door filled with expletives!
