My Yoga Path

Category: Life,My Outfits,YogaEyeliah

I want to tell you about my yoga path.  In February 2007 I injured my knee as a result of exercising incorrectly.  I was unable to walk more than 30 minutes at a time, was taking the bus back and forth to work and of course avoiding all the other fabulous activities life has to offer.  After stints in physiotherapy and acupuncture that achieved mild to average results I was sent to yoga and everything quickly changed for me.  I was back to walking my commute, riding my bike ‘for fun’ and was no longer scared to try new things, or even go bowling.  Hatha yoga became an integral part of my lifestyle attending classes 3 times every week I would feel slight pain and sluggishness whenever a class was missed.  Three and a half years later I still have limitations but it is manageable.  Since yoga influenced my life this dramatically learning more about the practice was an inevitable next step and I’ve been in the Certificate Training Program for 2 weeks now.  The program offers much more than I expected as it delves into philosophy, lifestyle and anatomy. For some reason I had it in my head I’d just be learning the postures but the true aim of yoga is to connect with the higher self.  Yoga teaches us how to live a clean and healthy life, with a positive outlook and loving relationships.  I have learned how to clean my nose with sea salt and massage my internal organs, I’ve been practicing good deeds without requiring acknowledgement, not easy.  This course couldn’t have come at a better time in my life, I am open.

Have you tried yoga?  Tell me about your experience?

Symmetry Seven ~ Wendy Brandes

Category: Real Girl & Blogger SpotlightsEyeliah

Wendy Brandes started her blog Wendy Brandes Jewelry initially to promote her jewelry line.  She quickly expanded into writing about high (and low) fashion, books, bloggers and best of all fashion in music.  Personal outfits often include signature red lipstick and a killer vintage designer dress, her photos taken on the streets of NYC.  Wendy’s writing style is often tongue in cheek providing readers with her humorous view of the world forgoing all political correctness.  She has also shared her Words of Wisdom educating readers on why fine jewelry isn’t cheap to manufacture or make custom.  See Wendy’s answers to the Symmetry Seven below.

1. What would you name your personal style?
Uncomplicated, with a twisted sense of humor.

2. Is there anything you wouldn’t wear?
Sack dresses don’t do it for me. I prefer sleek.

3. Where do you get your outfit inspirations?
Musical style icons often inspire me: Adam Ant, Debbie Harry, the Beatles in their Hamburg days. My favorite vintage designer, Ossie Clark, was a very rock ‘n’ roll guy. He designed for Mick Jagger.

4. What’s your favorite non fashion hobby?
Reading biographies.

5. How much time do you spend working on your blog?
Probably 40 hours a week!

6. What songs/albums are you loving right now?
Whip My Hair by Willow Smith. I can’t believe I’m listening to a nine-year-old, but it’s a great song!

7. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A journalist. And I was a journalist for 10 years. Goal achieved.

Thank you so much Wendy for participating!!

Better Get Yourself Together Darlin’

Category: My OutfitsEyeliah

Today is going to be my first day of yoga teaching practice at my school.  I have to teach three postures in front of a group, needless to say I am nervous though fairly prepared and can’t think about much else.  I’m going in early to practice.
