I went to see Cat Empire! I didn’t know much about them, but it doesn’t happen often at The Commodore that the whole audience is chanting a bands name for 3 minutes before the show starts “Empire, Empire!” Really had no idea what to expect but man they blew off the roof, literally! Harry plays the trumpet and sings like an angel, Felix is devilishly handsome and sings with such optimism and lightheartedness;
“It’s days like these
that make us happy
like a puppy getting lucky
with Lassie hassle-free
hours passing by
with the beat one two
said it’s days like these kicking back
just doing what we do”
There is also the Empire Horns for back up, percussion instruments, bongos…. I will go as far to say it’s the best show I’ve been to this year. On a sad note I had to SELL my ticket to the MGMT concert tonight!! It’s true, can you even believe it? Full story is I got the ticket a couple months ago and then forgot about the date. Then I planned a Fireworks Party, if you’ve read this blog for a while you’ll remember I have a quite the view each year for the Celebration of Light. Of course the concert and the party converge on the same evening and as much as I love MGMT and I’ve always wanted to see them live, a party with a good group of friends and seeing the fireworks is more important. Selling the ticket was the easiest thing I’ve ever done, since I will only ever charge for a ticket what I paid for it.
This isn’t what I wore to the show, it was simply my navy dress, a beaded necklace and the kick ass boots.

Awww, that’s too bad you couldn’t go to MGMT!! I totally would have bought your ticket if I wasn’t completely across the country. haha.
But parties with friends are wonderful thing, and not to be missed.
Nice sunglasses find, haha.

Boo to having to sell your ticket, but I hope you had a fabulous time at your party to make up for it! I just adore this outfit on you – the red dress is gorgeous with your skin tone. And I’m always impressed by your knack for finding great thrift finds!

Cute dress! I’ve somehow managed to never see The Cat Empire despite them playing numerous times here. Haha. I do love them, though.

Oh my. I hope your party was worth not going to that show. I’m pretty spacey, and mix up dates all the time. This is definitely something that would happen to me.
