To better explain all these dancing outfits, I recently started going out once a week with my dancer girlfriends. To watch these girls burn up the floor is exhilarating, inspiring and I know I am not the only one staring. There is nothing like cutting loose to shake the blues off and away and I am quickly becoming a regular on the circuit. First time out (low back blouse, striped skirt) it was this crazy trip hop/pop infused night, then a swanky club (polka dots and silk skirt) with an $18 (!) cover where you’d also have to pay extra to sit down. Last week was the best yet (pink dress and yellow sandals from this look) for R&B and a bit of 90s and then this weekend it was a live band reggae night. Now I was a bit bewildered for a couple reasons.
1. It was the first night without the pro dancers to back me up and
2. I have no clue what to wear!
Point #1, how to dance to reggae! I thoughtto quickly check youtube before running out there door and there were actual videos that gave example of some good basic moves. Mission accomplished.
Point #2, what to wear! Since my Bob Marley tee would have been way too literal I’m saving it up for the beach instead. But my flowy embroidered skirt with a black halter? That would suite the mood with it’s earthy tones and casual while still being pulled together vibe. Added some easy dancing flats and I was done. I really like this look, it’s breathable, comfortable and still ‘Friday night’ worthy. I had such a good time dancing, I felt the essence of my dancer friends infused in me even without them being there and was able to cut loose again.
How do your friends inspire you?
