Karina and I had this plan, the plan was to sit outside Malkin Bowl for LCD Soundsystem for a free dance party (you can hear and see without having to pay for tickets). On the way over a torrential downpour hit!
We were troopers and continued to make our way down to Stanley Park for the show. I packed a shower curtain and umbrella so we were prepared.
Friends of friends had extra tickets and were selling at way below cost, “but we don’t have any cash”…. “oh we can pay you later?” “okay sweet, we will come to the show then”.
At the will call window we were handed All Access Back Stage passes (what the??). I guess the tickets they had were ‘magic’, woop, thank you!
Yes the show was awesome, a big dance party as expected. The crowd was all shiny happy people looking for a good time not a fight (Vancouver crowds are THE BEST!). Once we got backstage I was a bit shy to get a photo with the band for some reason. But I did make sure to take pics of Jess (who we managed to score another pass for) and Karina with James.
Karina took tons of photos back stage, I was a bit in awe of all the cool graffiti to know where to start snapping so I am glad she documented (she’ll post on her blog soon, will advise). There were also some rad media people and the most awesome extrovert ever, was his name Jasper? Anyway he told us where he works so we will be stalking him out a bit. He came to this concert instead of his own graduation = dedication. We were told to eat cereal and drink beer, so we did. We were told to take some of the goodies home, so we did.
So NOT what I was expecting to happen last night.
The Set I think was the same as Portland 2 nights ago.
