P.S Happy Valentines Day

Category: My OutfitsEyeliah

A pretty simple outfit I wore today to go out and about to compare prices/gbs/ram on computers and take some Olympic and Eyeline pics along the way.  Red for Valentines and to support Canada.  We had the most gorgeous day, as a result Olympic training sessions were canceled and a race postponed.  Tonight we had a friend over for dinner and watched Canada win a gold and then a bronze – yay!  Also saw a bit of curling, biathlon and figure skating too, it was a busy day. :)

Adventures in Thrifting

Category: I ShopEyeliah

I’ve done a handful of successful thrifting lately.

Story #1

A stop at my favorite thrift shop, it’s hours are so limited that I only go once every few months if that.

This vintage blazer is immaculate, for the first time ever I bought something to sell online.  I was told I could take one t shirt for free and I remembered seeing this ‘I’m with Stupid’ hoodie, lol.  P.S. I’m impressed with myself for wearing the plaid pants and teal sweater already, it usually takes me much longer to wear new items.

Story #2

I like to take pictures in the change room to get another viewpoint on an item, what can I say it’s very Cher Horowitz.  Actually it’s not really here since she does it because she does not trust mirrors and I’m taking these pictures into a mirror so…..

It was the photo of these pleated slacks that helped me decide to buy them – yes sadly I think they are cool, I blame Blooming Leopold and nemrešpobjećodnedjelje.  This little jacket was adorable but out of my price range at $12 since I already had the pants $9 and an Abercrombie cardigan $8 but only $23 in my pocket, do the math.

Imagine my surprise and gratitude when they gave me everything for the $23, I was overwhelmed by the generosity and made sure to drop off a big bag of donations by the weekend.

Story #3
Both of these interesting vintage hats I could not say no to.  I can tell you how practical these purchases were, the weren’t.

Story #4 – Pièce de Résistance

Are you seeing double?  I was too when I spotted a pair of jeans at the North Vancouver Salvation Army exactly the same as a pair I thrifted there three years ago! I gladly marched to the till and handed over $7.  Checking the tags when I got home, they really were exactly the same, except the old pair are getting quite worn and the new are pristine.

What have you thrifted lately?

Swifter, Higher, Stronger

Category: My OutfitsEyeliah

Went out and saw the torch cross over the Burrard Bridge last night, very exciting and I did well up with emotion choking back a few tears.  Sadly my pictures were super blurry (whoops!) but I may still share them with you later.

This is what I am wearing today to go chase around after the torch through downtown this morning before work.  I’ll pretty much live in this CocoCola Olympic hat for the remainder of February so if you see this girl running after you for a photo, stop and smile m’kay?!

My 1988 Olympic Experience

Category: Life,My OutfitsEyeliah

As I am getting all geared up to watch the Olympic torch roll into my city I thought I should flashback to my first Olympic experience. In 1988 I was living in my hometown of Calgary Alberta, I was 6 years old and excited for the Olympics. My older cousin was going to be performing in the Opening Ceremonies and I thought that was just the coolest thing ever. Then my dad got tickets to the Opening Ceremonies which meant I would get to go. Sadly he got sick and then mom took me instead.

That’s me! Bundled up because boy it was cold! There were ponchos under each seat that we had to put on (get on it lady in blue!), most were white but there were lucky people in the crowd (like red in the foreground) who made out the Olympic rings in the audience. I remember being very jealous of the people with a colored poncho.

At the time I was living in an apartment building downtown and I remember running out to the street to see the Olympic torch go by the side alley, so exciting.

I haven’t even told you the best part….. I carried the torch! Don’t believe me?
