Maybelline Pulse Perfection Giveaway

Category: Giveaways,ReviewsEyeliah

I was given the opportunity to try Maybellines new Pulse Perfection Mascara prior to it hitting the market and I have to say I love this mascara!  I was skeptical at first but my eyelashes look so pretty.  I also gave a few out to for others to try and got their opinions as well.  Across the board we all liked how our lashes looked, the lack of clumps, it’s Blackest Black shade and the application was clean.  A few girls said the pulsing was a little tough to get used to and one found it runny on a workout day.  I for one loved the pulsing action, it really separated and lengthened the lashes more than they have ever been.  I wouldn’t necessarily wear it on an average day, this mascara is at it’s best on a night out.  Here is my after photo, I feel like the model. ;-)

And I saved a couple mascaras to giveaway to two of my dear readers.  To enter simply comment on this post by July 27th midnight PST. For extra entries tweet and/or post this contest on your blog, make sure to leave additional comments for each.  Contest is open worldwide, good luck!!

The Symmetry Seven ~ Dressed Up Like a Lady

Category: Real Girl SpotlightsEyeliah

Visiting Cammila’s blog is love at first site, with the fitting name Dressed Up Like a Lady as her outfits are always taken to that next level of put together, detailed and always accessorized.  She has a quirky feminine style that rivals our wildest fantasies of how we’d like to dress up mixing pink hair with lots of red, always in vintage and posing like a diva.  She is sweet as pie with all her readers and even inspired my current blue streak.  Below are her answers to the Symmetry Seven.

1. What would you name your personal style? I usually describe it as cinematic. I’m often inspired by characters in movies, but even more so, I just tend to think of outfits as part of a story or character.

2. Is there anything you wouldn’t wear? I probably wouldn’t wear pantyhose over my head. Unless I was robbing a bank.
3. Where do you get your outfit inspirations? I get a lot of inspiration from movies, and I like to take screencaps of really brilliant examples in different films, and keep the images in my inspiration file. Some examples of movies I’ve been hoarding pictures from lately include Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Public Enemies, Paper Heart, St. Elmo’s Fire, some Charlie Chaplin, and Grindhouse.

4. Tell us about your day job? I review movies for a business called AllMovie, which is a division of a larger company called Rovi. Basically, we provide reviews, plot synopses, and other movie info for TV Guide (another division of Rovi), and any other companies that want to pay to use them (like aol, Blockbuster, etc.) I also write random stuff like plot summaries and bios and what not, and I occasionally review CD’s for our music department. If yo want, you can read my reviews here: http://blog.allmovie.com/author/camalb/
5. How much time do you spend working on your blog? Some weeks, I get to spend tons of time on detailed photo shoots. Other weeks, work is so busy that I’m about two seconds away from asking my cats to upload photos for me.

6. What songs/albums are you loving right now? I’ve been listening to Eat to the Beat by Blondie pretty regularly for the past week or so. I’ve also developed this weird obsession with 70′s and 80′s soft rock, in an interest that quickly escalated from irony, to novelty, to earnest, inexplicable fixation. Also, I got to listen to the Dead Weather’s album today, Horehound, and I’m really excited about it.

7. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? One time, I found a picture that I’d drawn in 1st grade, where the class assignment was to draw what you wanted to be when you grew up. It was divided into two halves, because I couldn’t decide between “Ballerina” and “Game Show Hostess.” So far I’m 0 for 2.

Cammila thank you so much for participating!! :-)

Remembering To Take Outfit Photos

Category: My OutfitsEyeliah

Below is a five minute outfit that I was quite happy with.  Bloggers, do you ever wear outfits and forget to take the photos??  This was one of those, and there are actually a few that still need photos from the road trip and what I wore out last night for Friday night (the romper was part of it) as well.  I can be tough to stop and shoot when you are in a hurry or with a group of people.  Then I try desperately to remember what I wore down each little detail, write it down or take a hurried picture for reference.  Am I the only one?

_____
Thrifted Yellow and Black Dress and Bow Purse. Suzy Shier Tiered Skirt. Studded Belt, Ebay. Vianni Black and Gold Flats.
